National Idling Reduction Network News new
The National Idling Reduction Network brings together trucking and transit companies, railroads, equipment manufacturers, local, state and federal government agencies (including regulators), and national research laboratories to identify consistent, workable solutions to heavy vehicle idling for the entire United States.

Clean School Bus, USA:
An EPA effort that reduces both children's exposure to diesel exhaust and the amount air pollution created by diesel school buses.

Smartway Transport:
A voluntary program between EPA and the freight industry that will increase the energy efficiency while significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases.

U.S. EPA’s Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program:
Works to reduce pollution from existing diesel vehicles and equipment by encouraging cleaner burning fuel and pollution-reducing devices.

Clean Cities:
A U.S. Department of Energy program that supports the idea of adopting practices that contribute to reduced petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP):
This U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resource Conservation Services’s program funds provide a voluntary conservation program for farmers and ranchers that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality.

Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ):
These U.S. Department of Transportation funds are available to improve air quality and reduce congestion.

EPA's Multi-media Sector Strategies Program
The EPA Office of Policy, Economics, and Innovation’s Sector Strategies Program seeks collaborative ways to promote the use of environmental management systems and address regulatory barriers that can hinder performance improvements.

The Construction Sector Program is a part of the Sector Strategies Program and includes building construction, highway construction, heavy industrial construction (e.g., tunnels, airports, and dams), municipal utility construction (e.g., waste water treatment plants), and special trades such as plumbing, heating, and demolition contractors.

Retrofitting America's Diesel Engines: A Cleaner Air Through Cleaner Diesel
The Diesel Technology Forum has released a report on improving the emissions performance of existing diesel vehicles through increased use of retrofit technologies.

AirShare.org
Although AirShare was created as a tool specifically for air quality communicators, the majority of the site is accessible by the general public, including "AirShare Newsroom," "Quick Links," "Upcoming Events," "Search AirShare," and the air quality data displayed on the home page.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute
Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVI) is the education provider and information link between the alternative fuels and vehicles industry and public/private fleets and other proponents of alternative fuels. AFVI is fuel and technology neutral.

AFVI’s primary focus is to help improve our country’s transportation energy supply by facilitating market integration of new transportation fuels and technologies while minimizing environmental impacts.
